Jeffrey T. Holt, MD, Founder, Chief Science Officer
Dr. Holt has been researching Breast and Ovarian Cancer for more than 25 years including being a part of the team of researchers that identified the function of the 2 breast cancer genes, BRCA1 and BRCA2. Jeff has expertise in pathology testing, tissue genetics, clinical trials, BRCA1 and BRCA2 research, regulatory experience, and biologics manufacturing. Jeff is a board-certified pathologist who completed post-doctoral studies in molecular genetics at NIH in 1987. Dr. Holt was the first to report a function for the BRCA1 breast cancer gene and has 4 patents on therapeutic applications of BRCA1 and BRCA2 function. Dr. Holt is currently the Todd Professor of Experimental Pathology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the program director of the Hormone Related Malignancies Program of the University of Colorado Cancer Center.
Kimberly A. Gibson, Founder, Chief Operations Officer
Ms. Gibson has been working with Dr. Holt since 2001. Ms. Gibson has broad experiences in both industry and education from which she has gleaned her abilities in both management and science. She attended nursing school and then went on to earn a BS in Physical Science and Health Education from Central Michigan University. Kim has started and successfully operated three business ventures. Ms. Gibson was instrumental in co-founding and launching Tissue Genetics, including securing federal grant funding.
James A. Bowman, Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Bowman has been in the medical device industry for 25 years, primarily with emerging medical technology that supplants current technologies or treatment protocols. Mr. Bowman was previously Chief Executive Officer of Encision Inc., a minimally invasive surgical device company located in Boulder, CO. At Encision, Mr. Bowman revitalized company operations and led the company after start-up to large revenue increases, profitability, market momentum and listing on the American Stock Exchange. Mr. Bowman has executive and operational level success in launching revolutionary technology that changes the market and advances the standard of care. Jim has a degree in Bio-Medical Engineering with Marquette University and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School’s OPM curriculum.
Tina Wright, Chief Financial Officer
Tina Wright, has over 20 years of experience in Accounting and
Finance to bring to Tissue Genetics. She has had extensive management
experience including working for a Colorado Springs periodical. Her own
company, Quality Accounting Services, in Colorado Springs, has helped
to found several small firms which she continues to assist today.
Experience with government contracts and all aspects of tax accounting
has assured us that Tina has the acumen we will need to manage our
finances and staff to build a winning company.
Scientific Support
Vanessa J. Clark, PhD, Scientist
Dr. Clark has wide-ranging experience in the study of the genetic causes of human disease. Vanessa graduated with a Ph. D. in Genetics from Pennsylvania State University, and recieved extensive formative training in cancer genetics at the National Cancer Institute in Maryland. More recently, she was a NIH Post-doctoral Fellow in the department of Human Genetics at the University of Chicago. She now brings her experience in genetic research to the laboratory at Tissue Genetics.
